Berry Heavy® Winterberry Holly

Our native winterberry holly is an adaptable plant that will tolerate a variety of conditions, including clay soils, and may be used for rain gardens as well as general landscaping and cutting gardens. Berry Heavy® was selected for its abundant fruit set of bright orange-red berries. Its leaves drop earlier than other varieties for a better fruit display. Use Mr. Poppins™ as a pollinator.

Plant Care

Pruning is generally not needed, but can be trimmed in late winter. Branches may be cut for arrangements in fall and winter. It does require a male pollinator to produce fruit; Mr. Poppins™ is the preferred pollinator but ‘Jim Dandy’ will also work.
