Beyond Midnight® Bluebeard

Send summer off on a high note with Beyond Midnight bluebeard. Also known as blue mist spirea, this sun-loving shrubby perennial comes alive in late summer with spiky clusters of deep blue florets. The foliage is a very nice dark green for beautiful contrast that’s right at home in the landscape or flower garden. For best results, plant in full sun, well-drained (even dry) soil, and cut back each spring to maintain a dense and handsome plant. Flowers attract a parade of pollinators!

Light: Full sun (6+ hrs/day)

Soil: Good drainage is imperative, so any well-drained soil will do

Water: Low to average water needs. Drought tolerant.

Fertilizing: One application of a rose fertilizer in early spring is sufficient; becomes open and floppy if grown in high fertility environments

Pruning: In both warm and cold climates, prune bluebeard back to a few inches above the ground each spring. This keeps plants dense and compact. In cold climates, wait until you see signs of growth beginning to emerge on the stems before pruning.
