Plant Care
Though adaptable to most soils aside from those that are very wet, this species prefers moist but well-drained and slightly acidic conditions. Blooms on old wood – prune after flowering if desired.
Sweet Talker viburnum offers deep pink tubular flowers that greet you in the early spring with a sweet, spicy, honey scent. The attractive, semi-evergreen foliage is a glossy forest green with an overcast of burgundy which intensifies in the autumn. Based on this hybrid’s lineage of V. x bodnantense x V. suspensum, it is heat tolerant, viburnum beetle resistant, reasonably tolerant to deer and highly salt tolerant. It’s great for hedging, privacy screens, or as a small tree.
